MEEM receives accreditation (December 18, 2007)

On December 18th, the MEEM programme was awarded accreditation by the Dutch-Flemish accreditation Council (NVAO). Because of this, the title of the programme has changed into MSc.

The decision by NVAO marks the end of a process that started about a year ago. During this year, the programme prepared an information dossier and welcomed an international panel of experts for a site visit. The information dossier, panel report and other relevant documents provided the basis for the decision by NVAO to grant accreditation.

In all, the expert panel was very positive about the MEEM programme. Some of their observations state (Panel report, sept. 2007):

The panel found a programme based on many years of experience and expertise covering both the academic as well as the professional field. The panel deems the intended profile of the programme a product of expertise gathered in the past. It was impressed by the highly motivated staff running the programme. It is thereby convinced of the quality of the teaching staff, both in terms of teaching and research.”

The panel has found an engaging curriculum of one year, divided in three blocks, with a clear educational concept.”

The curriculum strongly combines theory with practice.”

The curriculum is deemed strong in the development of students’ knowledge through the interaction between education and research. ….. Additionally, the panel clearly sees the curriculum’s correspondence with current developments in environmental and energy management.”

Of course, programme management and staff are happy with the accreditation and the positive review. With this, the MEEM programme is well prepared for the years to come.
