How much is the Tuition fee?

The tuition fee for Dutch, European and non European students is 12,500 Euro per year.

What is included in the tuition fee, and which expenses are not included?

The tuition fee includes: lectures, site visits, research period and social events. All living expenses are not included. Living expenses include: accommodation, meals, residence permit, insurance and pocket money.

Do you have some information about the living expenses?

It is very difficult to give an exact amount, because this depends on the way students live. If you come from a warm country and do not have any warm clothes, you will spend more on cloths, than when you come from a country with similar weather conditions. On an average we would estimate living expenses to be around 700 – 900 EURO per month (food, travel expenses, accommodation, study books, insurance, pocket money, etc.) excluding the tuition fee. But if you live as cheaply as possible, you can spend less.

Where Is the programme located?

CSTM Fryslan is a department of the University of Twente, and is located in Leeuwarden, a city in the North of the Netherlands. The University of Twente itself and its campus are located in Enschede. What are the differences between the energy, environment and water stream?

The basic difference between the two streams is that the environmental stream is all-round. It does not focus on one special environmental aspect, but on all (including energy). The energy stream has a special focus on energy and energy management, and provides more details on this subject. The water stream has a special focus on water governance.

What about the research period: should I already search for a company to do my research project?

It is not necessary to arrange a company for your research project before the start of the programme. However, in case you have strong preference for a certain organization, we advise you to take contract data with you to the Netherlands. If possible, also make preliminary enquiries about the possibilities in various organisations before you leave to the Netherlands.
