Dr. Kornelia Konrad
Dr. Kornelia E. Konrad, new Assistant Professor at STePS

Kornelia Konrad takes up the position as Assistant Professor of Dynamics and Assessment of Emerging Technologies in September. She is a sociologist, but studied also physics and mathematics.
From 2002 onwards she has worked in Zurich and Lucerne at Eawag, a Swiss federal research institute of the ETH domain, within the social science department Cirus. Cirus conducts research on sustainable innovation and transformation processes within infrastructure sectors. In the nineties, she has also worked for the Center for Technology Assessment in Stuttgart.
Her main research interests involve the role of expectations and expectation dynamics (e.g. hype and disappointment) in innovation processes, foresight, and the interplay of innovation processes and sectoral transformations. Furthermore, she is interested in knowledge production at the science-industry interface, in particular related to the interaction of academic spin-offs and their parent organisations, and the impact of the commercialization of science. In addition, technology use and the role of user scenarios and user involvement in design has been a major theme of her research.
