Background

Pieter-Jan Klok is assistant professor Policy Analysis at the University of Twente. He holds an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Twente (1985) and received his Ph.D. on a these on policy instruments in environmental policy (Een instrumententheorie voor milieubeleid, Enschede, 1991). He has conducted research in the field of environmental policy, mainly on the effectiveness of different policy instruments and institutional changes in Dutch local government.

Research

Current research topics are: institutional analysis and development, resource-dependency and coalition behaviour, institutional changes in local governance, including community involvement and political leadership.

Teaching

He teaches (non-policy-sector-specialized) policy studies related courses in the bachelor and master programs in Public Administration, Health Science and Business Administration; and the Policy Management Track in the post-doctoral training program Master of Public Management.

Current courses: Introduction to Policy Studies (Bachelor, Beleid Maken), Practice Oriented Work in Policy Analysis, and Methods of Deliberative Policy Analysis (jointly with Rob Hoppe).
