For (aspiring) entrepreneurs: 20 June – 24 June
For business development support professionals: 27 June – 1 July
(Combination possible)
University of Twente, Netherlands
The Netherlands Institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship (NIKOS) from the University of Twente organizes two summer schools on Entrepreneurship and Technology Venturing the summer of 2011.
For (aspiring) entrepreneurs: How to create a successful business?
20 June – 24 June
Students, graduates, or career-switchers who want to start or accelerate their own high-tech business may want to attend this summer school. Science indicates that a business should be sufficiently developed in strategy, funding, organization, marketing, networks and technology in the different phases of the entrepreneurial process in order to be successful. In this summer school, these issues are covered extensively by means of lectures, discussions and case-studies led by experts from practice and academics. At the end of the summer school, there is a possibility to present your own business case to an expert panel.
For business development support professionals: How to support entrepreneurship?
27 June – 1 July
Businesses in different phases of development need different types of support. This summer school covers how universities or incubators could stimulate and support businesses in the best way. This is done by presenting methods and techniques, visits to incubators and companies, and in-depth discussions on successes, challenges and developments in the support systems of the participants.
University of Twente, NIKOS and VentureLab Twente
The University of Twente (www.utwente.nl) is known as a truly entrepreneurial university, and has delivered approximately 800 spin-offs since the 1980’s. NIKOS (www.utwente.nl/nikos) is the University’s expert center on knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship. It researches entrepreneurial processes, teaches the science of entrepreneurship and supports entrepreneurs in developing a successful knowledge-intensive business. Amidst a variety of entrepreneurial support instruments, its most prominent current program is the VentureLab Twente program (www.venturelabtwente.com). VentureLab has already helped 140 high-tech, high-growth ventures in their development since May 2009. These international summer schools on “Entrepreneurship & Technology Venturing” are largely based on the offer of the VentureLab Twente program.
How to apply?
The deadline to apply for both summer schools is May 1st. See the application form on the website. Due to a limited amount of places to ensure the possibility of in-depth discussions, a selection will take place. Applicants will be informed about their placement by e-mail on May 6th latest.
