Research interests
Research interests lie in the field of international and European institutional law, with a focus on international organizations, EU external relations, peace and security and European foreign, security and defence policy (CFSP and ESDP). A general focus lies on ‘multilevel regulation’, as part of the multi-disciplinary program Innovation of Governance of the IGS, which focuses mainly on the legitimacy and effectiveness of the structures and processes of multilevel governance within the European Union. Main parts of this program are connected to the EU-funded CONNEX Network of Excellence as well as to the HiiL-funded project on Informal International Law-Making (INLAW). Research activities are also embedded in the program Constitutional Processes (theme: Constitutional Processes in the International Legal Order) of the Ius Commune Research School.
