Research Theme

Regulation, Innovation & Europe (REI) is the overarching research theme of the LEGS department. Within this theme the current focus is on three topics:

-	Regulation of emerging technologies, with a special focus on nanotechnology. Regulation of this sector includes aspects of intellectual property rights (IPR) and regulation by means of standardization (through private or public actors and/or hybrid constellations);

-	Smart regulation for dynamic policy areas, i.c. financial markets and the energy sector;

-	The Lisbon Agenda/EU 2020, regional innovation and demographic shrinkage
