Welcome to the website of the Department of Legal & Economic Governance Studies (LEGS). The core theme of the research done by the LEGS department is Regulation, Innovation & Europe (REI). Within this theme the current focus is on the regulation of emerging technologies (with a special focus on nanotechnology and including aspects of intellectual property rights (IPR) and regulation by means of standardization), on (smart regulation) for dynamic policy areas (in casu financial markets and the energy sector) and on the EU 2020, regional innovation and demographic shrinkage.
