Examination Boards

SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE (SMG)

The Examination Board is the body that determines in an objective and expert manner whether a student meets the conditions set under the Teaching and Examination Regulations (generally referred to as the ‘OER’) concerning the knowledge, comprehension and skills required to obtain a degree.

The Board’s main tasks are to appoint examiners to administer exams and record the exam results, to guarantee the quality of the exams and examinations, and to enforce education and examination rules and regulations.

Besides, the Examination Board has the authority to revoke a student’s right to sit one or more exams in case he commits fraud, to grant exemption for exams, to give permission to follow a ‘free programme’ (a programme compiled by the student), and to deviate in specific cases from the stipulations set in the OER referring to an extra exam opportunity, validity of exams, exam format, etcetera.

The School of Management and Governance (MG) has two examination boards, one for the BSc and MSc degree programmes of Business Information Technology (BIT) and one for the other MG degree programmes. The rules established in relation to the execution of the tasks and authorities of these Boards are laid down in the document called Rules and Regulations of the Examination Boards (‘R&R’).

Both the ‘OER’ and ‘R&R’ are included in the Student’s Charters for SMG’s BSc and MSc programmes.
