Jakpa Sumaila Shu-aib is a lecturer of the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana. He started his PhD programme at CSTM in October 2008. For his PhD research, he is currently working on a EU-funded project, INNOVKAR (Innovative Tools and Techniques for Sustainable Use of the Shea Tree in Sudano-Sahelian Zone), focussing on improvement of shea fruit production, biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration in shea parklands of Ghana. His research is supervised by Prof. Dr. Jon C. Lovett.
Jakpa holds a Masters degree in Agroforestry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, and a BSc. degree in Agricultural Technology from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana. He has worked in various capacities, including teaching and doing research in a number of subject areas in universities and other institutions in Ghana.
