Snijder, Jorrit: Research Master programmes and the knowledge economy
Jorrit Snijder, working at the Roosevelt Academy in Middelburg and formerly involved in the accreditation of research master programmes, studies the functioning and impact of research master programmes in Dutch universities.
Through a longitudinal research project, comparing the careers of students who are in research master programmes with those in other master programmes, he seeks to establish if research master programmes reach their intended goals of preparing more students in a better way for research careers, either as Ph.D. candidates in universities or as knowledge workers outside higher education institutions. Surveys and interviews are planned to take until 2010, and the finalisation of the thesis is intended within a year after that date.
