Programme

The programme consists of 7 master classes, an international study trip and a master thesis to conclude the master programme.

Master classes*

In each master class a specific relevant theme of safety and asset protection will be studied and discussed from different perspectives and theoretical concepts. The following master classes are designed:

Human behavior and communication

Governance and organisational structures and dynamics

4.

Finance and economics

5.

Law, regulations and compliance

6.

Methodology of damage prevention

7.

Research and design methodology

Each master class is constructed of an e-learning part followed by a five day seminar. During this seminar you will stay at the campus of University of Twente. Each day of the seminar consists of a morning, afternoon and an evening session. Every day, the programme starts at 09.00 a.m. and ends at 08.00 p.m. Friday, the last day of the seminar will end at 04.00 p.m.

During a master class there are two tests. After the e-learning part and before the seminar there is a knowledge test on the course materials. The seminar will be concluded with a case study in the organisation of the participant. The case study will be assessed by one of the lecturers.

International study trip

The international study trip focuses on risk management and safety and asset protection in Anglo Saxon countries. The study trip consists of a combination of lectures at an international university and company visits.

Master thesis

The master programme will be finalised by writing a master thesis. In the thesis participants will analyse and research a problem/situation in their own organisation, work towards conclusions and make recommendations.

The thesis will be supervised by one of the lecturers of University of Twente.

Every year, three master classes will start. The total time for the Master Risk Management will be three years.

International Master Risk Management for Insurance Professionals

The first master class ‘Master Risk Management in a nutshell: overview and academic reflection on theory and practice’, will start in September 2013. Every four months, a next master class will start.
