Working while studying

As an international student in the Netherlands, you may want to take a part-time job. Besides helping to cover your expenses, a job can help you participate in Dutch society, help you learn the language and give you work experience. However, your position as a job applicant differs from that of Dutch students. Some jobs require you to be fluent in Dutch, so until you have mastered Dutch, your options will be limited. Keep in mind that you may need a work permit in order to hold a part-time job, and that you will need full medical insurance. Social security contributions and income tax will be deducted from your gross pay.

If you are from a EU / EEA country and work in the Netherlands for a minimum of 32 hours per month, then you may be eligible for a student grant for EU/EEA students.
