Sustainable Energy Technology

People are becoming aware of the urgency of the limited availability of fossil fuels and the threat of climate change. This demands for fundamental innovations in the world's energy-landscape.

Recently many people are becoming aware of the urgency of the limited availability of fossil fuels and the threat of climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions. Both issues demand for fundamental innovations in the world's energy-landscape. Sustainable generation of energy will play a key role in coping with both these issues, especially if the current western standard of living has to be maintained, or even expanded worldwide. Technologies applying promising sustainable energy sources like biomass, water, wind and sunlight and new energy carriers like hydrogen need to be researched, developed, optimized and integrated into existing socio-technological networks. At the same time, the energy market, embedded in the complex modern society, is changing as a result of internationalization and liberalization. Realizing this "revolution" demands for a new generation of specialized engineers and researchers.
