Indications are increasing that mental health is more than absence of mental disorder. Positive mental health also includes our subjective, psychological and social wellbeing. Simply said, it is important that we feel good, experience opportunities to thrive, and that we feel connected with society. In a society that is changing extremely fast, our positive mental health determines the amount of change we can cope with. Beside the treatment of mental illnesses, healthcare is also increasingly focusing on the promotion of positive mental health. In this master’s specialization track attention will be paid to treatment of mental illnesses, mental problems associated with physical diseases, and stimulating positive mental health. You will learn about psychopathology and clinical health psychology, and you will practice therapeutic skills like behavioural therapy. Also insights will be obtained into positive psychology and you will become familiar with the associated interventions.
