The specialization Engineering of Fibrous Smart Materials involves studying and developing new systems and technologies to modify fibre surfaces in traditional as well as in new innovative treatment processes. The specialization has two focus points. The first involves the application of (bio) catalysts and the principles of process intensification to develop innovative and sustainable treatment processes. The second is directed towards adding new functionalities to fibres by means of sophisticated chemistry and physics.
