Programme Specific Admission Requirements
A) Educational background / diplomas:
The MSc Business Administration at the University of Twente is a demanding programme and has therefore set some requirements to make sure you have the right background to successfully complete our programme.
Because the MSc Business Administration programme is a programme that builds onto a Bachelor (BSc) programme Business Administration, we require a background in business administration (or closely related field) that is comparable in level and content with a bachelor of (International) Business Administration at the University of Twente (a research university).
Most of the following courses should be part of your bachelor programme to be considered comparable with the University of Twente BSc Business Administration programme:
Organization Theory, Marketing, Economics, Strategic Management, Logistic management, Operations Management, Financial Management, Information management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Business Law, Research & Design methodology, Bachelor thesis/project (see section B).
We offer a MSc programme in Business Administration for which professional experience is not required. Anyone with an appropriate up to date study-background as described above and who fulfills all the admission criteria is free to apply for admission.
B) Background in scientific research methodology/ skills in mathematics and statistics
All courses in our MSc Business Administration are based on research. This means that our courses involve many theories, how to use them, how to compare them, how to test them. To make sure you have sufficient background in research methodology and statistics, we assume you to be thoroughly familiar with knowledge of the standard literature described below (or its equivalent):
- |
Babbie, E. The practice of social research, Belmont: Wadsworth Publishing Company, 11th edition, 2007 |

The Business Administration Admission Committee needs detailed information on the research method and statistics courses that you took during your Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree programme. Please enclose copies of the table of contents of the textbooks or an overview of the topics that have been dealt with in order to demonstrate that your research methods/ research techniques/statistics skills are at least on Bachelor’s degree level. Please also send us a summary in English of your Bachelor or Master thesis allowing us to evaluate your academic level (in terms of abstract thinking, written communication, and problem analysis skills).
C) Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and CGPA
Submitting a GMAT score is mandatory. Applications without a valid GMAT score will not be considered for admission. Please note that GMAT scores older than 24 months are no longer considered valid. A GMAT score between 500 and 600 will be evaluated. A GMAT score of 600 is sufficient for admission, provided that the other requirements are fulfilled.
The Admission Committee will, besides your GMAT score, also evaluate your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), please provide an academic transcript that includes a cumulative grade point average.
D) Motivation letter (which covers no more than two pages)
