Transfer from Saxion to University of Twente

If you have a Bachelor´s degree from a university of applied sciences (HBO), you can transfer to a one or two-year Master’s programme at the University of Twente. However, many HBO programmes do not tie in seamlessly with university Master’s programmes. This is because university-level programmes emphasize research and analytical skills, while HBO programmes are more focused on practical applications. In many cases, HBO Bachelor’s students therefore need to complete a supplementary university programme to bring their knowledge and skills up to the level required for admission to an academic Master’s programme.

Saxion students: transferring during your degree programme

As a student at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences, you can opt to complete a University of Twente pre-Master's programme as a minor. A minor is a predefined study unit worth 30 credits. Among the curricular minors Saxion offers a specially designed University of Twente transfer minor. By doing this minor, you can work on fulfilling the requirements for admission to a specific Master’s programme as part of your HBO Bachelors’s programme.

Saxion students can register for this minor as soon as they meet the following requirements:

·

Completion of 60 credits from the first year (completion of foundation year).

·

Completion of 75 credits from the second and third years.

·

Sufficient level of proficiency in mathematics (by taking the Saxion course or obtaining an exemption) and sufficient level of proficiency in the English language (by taking the Saxion course or obtaining an exemption).

·

Positive advice from academic career counsellor.

Second pre-Master's component: In some cases, students may need to complete a programme of more than 30 credits in order to be admitted to a Master's programme. In that case, you may be able to take the remaining modules after completing your HBO programme. Officially, pre-Master’s students are enrolled as Bachelor’s students. How will this affect your tuition fee rate? (Dutch only)
