HMI is all about how people live, work and play in the world of media and electronics. Brain computer interfacing and natural language processing are just a couple of the fascinating topics covered.
The interface between the computer and its user has become a prominent topic of interest for researchers and designers. How do machines provide users with information? How can users command and manipulate machines?
In the Human Media Interaction programme you will learn about various aspects of the modes of interaction between people and machines, ranging from basic technological issues to advanced topics in natural modes of interaction and intelligent media. Topics include speech recognition and natural language processing, virtual reality, robotics and AI. The programme involves assignments (to practice the design of complex, multi-modal interfaces) and coursework (to examine the human factors of media and their interfaces).
The programme combines technical expertise and skills in the field of interaction technology with knowledge and skills in user-oriented design methodologies and an understanding of how people interact with technology. You will develop and study advanced interfaces in projects with students from various backgrounds, including engineering, human sciences, and art and design.
In collaboration with the University of Trento, you can also earn a double degree.
