Registering for a minor

Registering for a minor:

·	is obligatory,

·	is for UT bachelor students possible only through Osiris,

·	is for other UT-students possible only through e-mail,

·	is for non-UT-students possible only through Kies Op Maat (in Dutch),

·	is possible only during a predetermined period (see below).

Please note the following details.

·	If you have already started a minor, but will not complete it during the academic year 2011-2012, it is not necessary to register again. Please update your minor coordinator regularly on your progress and plans to complete your minor.

·	If you have registered for a minor previously, but have never started the minor, you will have to register again.

·	If you wish to take and complete a different minor than the one you are presently registered for, you will have to register again.

Registering for an institutionalised minor

Registering for a minor is possible:

·	from the day of the minor information market onwards (Thursday, April 26th, 2012);

·	until and including Friday, June 22nd, 2012, but

·	until and including Wednesday, May 16th, 2012 for both minors below with a limited number of participants.

During the academic year 2012-2013, there will be three minors with a limited number of participants. These will be:

·	the theme minor Krijgswetenschappen (in Dutch only!): at most 25 participants;

·	the theme minor Leren Lesgeven (in Dutch only!) has a maximum number of participants per school subject in which the internship is taken:

·	school subject Chemistry: at most 15 participants;

·	school subject Computer Science: at most 10 participants;

·	school subject Economics: at most 15 participants;

·	school subject Mathematics: at most 20 participants;

·	school subject Physics: at most 20 participants;

·	school subject Social Studies: at most 15 participants.

·	the theme minor Music (in Dutch only!): at most 23 participants. On top of that, this minor has a limitation per sub-theme within the minor:

·	sub-theme Classical Music: at most 12 participants;

·	sub-theme Jazz: at most 12 participants;

·	sub-theme Pop: at most 10 participants;

·	sub-theme Music Production: at most 6 participants.

The figures above are an indication and subject to change according to revised agreements with the organisers of these minors.

After the reduced period of registration on these minors, the following will apply.

·	Students registering for the minor Krijgswetenschappen or Leren Lesgeven will only be invited for an intake procedure if their number exceeds the maximum capacity of the minor.

·	Students registering for the minor Music will all be invited for a selection procedure.

In all cases, you will receive more information from the minor itself. On Friday, June 1st, 2012 (at the latest), you will know whether your registration has been accepted by the minor. If not, you will have enough time to register for another minor.

Registering for an individual minor

During the registration period (see above), it is also possible to register for an individual minor through Osiris. Please note that all further steps towards your individual minor are completely up to your own initiative! You can also initialise those steps outside the registration period, but registering for an individual minor through Osiris has the advantage that all administration around your minor can be processed together with all other registrations.

In case you decide to compose an individual minor, the consequences in short will be the following.

·	In consultation with a personal coach, you will have tot compose a minor consisting of several courses which is balanced, coherent, at a third-year's academic level, contributing to your academic development (etc.).

·	You will have to write a letter of motivation to your examination board in which you explain your plans concerning your individual minor and elaborate on all demands mentioned in the previous bullet.

·	Your examination board will have to approve of your minor plan before you can start your individual minor.

Please note that your intention to take an individual minors does not specify any of the contents of your minor. Therefore, you can only register for the individual minor of your own discipline regardless of the specific contents you will pursue.
