Major-minor is an educational concept of the University of Twente. The basic idea is that all Bachelor students, by the end of their Bachelor's study, take a minor in a (preferably significantly) different discipline than their own.

The main intention of this concept is to offer all bachelor students a platform for the (further) development of their academic skills *. Some of these skills might remain underdeveloped in their own discipline, like discovering the (social) relevance and context of their own discipline, learning to think 'out-of-the-box', learning to communicate with professionals with different backgrounds, obtaining a broad(er) view on the total field of science, exploring a completely new field of specialisation, etc.

Therefore, it is relatively irrelevant in which discipline the minor is taken, as long as it is (far) outside the student's main discipline. So, feel free to choose the minor you like most!

That is the power of Major-minor: taking the minor which appeals to you most, and developing yourself towards academic professionalism.

Good luck and enjoy your minor!
