Bachelor/Master Students

You need a visa to enter the Netherlands. For an up to date list of nationals that need a visa, please use the ‘Student Visa Wizard’.

If you are staying longer than three months you will need a residence permit as well.

STEP 1: RETURN EAF TO ADMISSION OFFICE

To start your visa/residence permit application procedure, please return the completed Entrance Acceptance Form (EAF) to Admission Office.

STEP 2: SEND DOCUMENTS TO INTERNATIONAL OFFICE

After you have send your EAF to Admission Office, you will receive an email from International Office about further steps to take. Among other things, you will be requested to provide proof of sufficient financial means by (1) sending in your scholarship award letter or (2) money transfer.

(1) Scholarship Award Letter: Send in your original Scholarship Award Letter. Scholarship letters other than from the University of Twente or Nuffic first need to be approved by International Office.

(2) Money Transfer: Make a single transfer of € 13,500 to the UT bank account. You will receive a deposit statement by email. After deduction of the tuition fee and visa costs, the remainder of the deposit will be transferred to your personal bank account in the Netherlands.

STEP 3: ADDITIONAL PROCEDURES BY EMAIL

International Office will guide you through the rest of the visa/residence permit procedure. Please follow the instructions outlined in the email messages carefully. Chinese students will be requested to apply for a Nuffic Certificate (www.nuffic.nl/nuffic-certificate).

STEP 4: INTRODUCTION DAY

During the mandatory introduction day for international students, International Office will guide you through (1) registration at Enschede City Hall and (2) filing for a tuberculosis X-ray test.

 

Exchange Students

You need a visa to enter the Netherlands. For an up to date list of nationals that need a visa, please visit the ‘Student Visa Wizard’ from the Nuffic website.

If you are staying longer than three months you will need a residence permit as well.

After you have been (provisionally) accepted by the UT, you will be contacted by International Office who will assist you with your residence permit application. Among other things, you will be requested to provide proof of sufficient financial means (€800 per month) by by (1) sending in your scholarship award letter or (2) money transfer.

(1) Scholarship Award Letter: Send in your original Scholarship Award Letter. Scholarship letters other than from the University of Twente or Nuffic first need to be approved by International Office.

(2) Money transfer: Make a single transfer of € 800,- to the UT bank account for every month of stay (e.g. exchange of six months: transfer 6 x € 800= € 4800). You will receive a deposit statement by email. After deduction of visa costs, the remainder of the amount will be transferred to your personal bank account in the Netherlands.

Chinese students will be requested to apply for a Nuffic Certificate (www.nuffic.nl/nuffic-certificate).
