Medicine 2.0 ® EUROPE, Maastricht November 29-30, 2010
Medicine 2.0 is the annual open, international conference on Web 2.0 applications in Medicine, Health, Health Care and Biomedical Research. The Medicine 2.0® conference for 2010 in Europe is organized by the University of Twente (UT), the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre (UMCN) and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
The program is finalized during the last months and an interesting and extremely varied line up emerged. Over 70 oral presentations and 50 poster presentations from twenty countries have been accepted by the scientific commission. Contributions include current trends, bioethics 2.0, infodemiology, mobile devices, business modeling, country reports, eMental health, self management, social networking, education 2.0, patient empowerment or participatory health care.
Dr. Marc Sprenger, head of the European centre for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) opens the conference, while Prof. Dr. Hubert Coonen, Dean of the UT Faculty of Social Sciences introduces the conference with initiator Dr. Gunther Eysenbach (University of Toronto). Key note contributions include Dr. Elizabeth Murray (University College, London), Dr. B.J. Fogg (Stanford University, CA), Alexander Schachinger (Germany) and Dr. Bas Bloem (Radboud University Nijmegen Medical centre).

CALLIOPE Brussels, (Belgium) November 16, 2010
The CALLIOPE Thematic Network holds its closing conference, at the EU Parliament, for celebrating 3 years of stakeholder engagement on eHealth Interoperability. Under the title "Crossing boundaries in eHealth: the CALLIOPE think-tank and collaborative platform", the event features the CALLIOPE proposal for a European eHealth Interoperability Roadmap towards Sustainable Health. The ‘eHealth Governance Initiative’ in charge of following-up the Council Conclusion on eHealth of 1st December 2009 will take over this roadmap and will be invited for joint reflections on those achievements. EHTEL 2010 Symposium, Brussels (Belgium) Nov. 22-2, 2010
The EHTEL 2010 Symposium is being jointly organized EHTEL, the Assembly of European Regions (AER) and the European Regional and Local Health Authorities (EUREGHA) and is hosted by the Committee of Regions (CoR). It is designed to address the question what eHealth can do for supporting Regional health policies and, vice versa, what can the Region do for deploying eHealth services. Symposium Shared decision making, Utrecht December 2, 2010
Patients face hard choices when it comes to which treatment is preferable. Shared decision making implies a balanced interaction between health care provider and patient. This is not always easy. Therefore the Dutch Institute for Healthcare Improvement CBO organizes this symposium in collaboration with EMGO/VUMC, NHG, LUMC, NPCF, RIVM, TNO, Trimbos instituut, Universiteit Maastricht, Universiteit Twente (Centre for eHealth Research).
Subjects concern trends, knowledge, keynote speakers, on line decision aids, ethics, Health 2.0.
