Overview of recent working visits by UT staff:

· In spring 2011 Dr. van der Heijden visited Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), where he gave a research seminar on Service Logistics for Advanced Capital Goods and started a joint research project in the area of system upkeep of advanced capital goods.

· Fall 2010 PhD student Maartje Zonderland visited Professor Michael Carter at the Centre for Research in Healthcare Engineering of the University of Toronto, Canada. Maartje worked on the project "Evaluating the Impact of Emergency Observation and Assessment Wards on Hospital Performance".

· In July 2010 PhD student Peter Vanberkel completed a 2 month research visit at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. During his visit, Peter worked with the UBC Centre for Health Care Management (http://chcm.ubc.ca) under the supervision of Professor Martin Puterman.  Their research involved modelling the long term care of cancer patients with an aim to support capacity planning at the British Columbia Cancer Agency.
