Living and working on campus

As a student, your work station will primarily be your own room. Usually, you will have a PC there. This can be a notebook or a desktop PC. To make use of the network facilities of the UT, you need to configure several items on this PC.

It is also possible, via a telephone connection in your room, to purchase a telephone subscription (this is not possible for Sky and Box, alas). For more information, view your own telephone connection in the section “Fixed telephony” on this website (see the link at the bottom of this page).

Connecting your computer to the UT-net

To make use of the UT-net, you need to connect your PC, by means of a network cable, to the network port built into the wall of your campus room. In most student accommodation there are two ports. Only one of these two ports is connected to the network.

Before you can go on the Internet via the UT-net, you need to select the proper network settings and register your computer with the UT. You can register your computer via the Digital Administration System (DAS) of SNT. For the correct network settings, see network settings in the appropriate manual at the bottom of this page.

Wireless access via UT WLAN

In your room, if you have a notebook you can also use the WLAN-network. See the notebook section on this website for this.
