2009-2010: UT chooses HP

Through the Notebook Project of the Notebook Service Centre, three notebooks are offered. A “High-end” an a ”Budget” notebook, and, new this year, is a “Netbook” notebook.

Once again, we chose for notebooks from HP. As mentioned, three notebooks will be offered. For the high-end model we chose an upgraded version of the HP Elitebook 8530w, for the budget model,we chose the HP Compaq 6730b. We have build up good experiences with HP and fulfillment partner Switch Automatisering, since they were the choice in our Notebook Project from last year, and we expect this year to be no different. This year, again, they managed,to offer the students of the University of Twente, notebooks with very good prices. Pay extra attention to our high-end notebook, the HP Elitebook 8530w, which is an absolute ‘monster’ ; a business notebook excelling in computing power, graphical performance and robustness. That’s why this notebook belongs to the category of mobile workstations.

Our newcomer this year is a netbook from HP, an HP mini. We hope to publish specifications of this one before the 26^th of June. Together with Switch Automatisering, we currently work on a web portal through which the notebooks and accessories can be ordered. Due to Friday the 26^th of June, we expect to finish it. Switch Automatisering will take care of the orders, payments and delivery of the notebooks.

Some study programs of the UT have great demands on a notebook. Their students are advised to order the high-end model. To see a summary of all the study programs and their advices, see Notebook Advice.
