DAS

The Digital Administration System is a web application for member administration made by SNT. Every person who wants to have access to the network of the University of Twente (UTnet) has to be registered through DAS. The network interface card of the campus residents should be registered for using the network and Internet.

ICT account for third parties.

EDUROAM

Eduroam is the University of Twente's wireless network. When you are logged in, you can use the wireless internet in the teaching buildings, campus based student rooms, a large part of the UT site and (limitedly) in the centre of Enschede.

FOLLOW ME SYSTEEM

If you want to print at an MFP (multifunctional printer), you have to be signed in through the follow-me system. This is possible whit your student or employee card.

FTP

File Transfer Protocol makes it possible to share documents between computers. For example the P drive for students is accessible via an FTP client (e.g. Filezilla).

IAPC

IAPC is the non-profit shop for computer parts at the campus of the University of Twente. This shop is managed by students and is meant for students.

ICT-ACCOUNT

Every employee and every student at the University of Twente receives and ICT account (AD account). This account consists of a user name (s number/m number), a password and a domain (AD).

ICTS

The ICT Service Centre offers all employees and students advice and support concerning questions and problems related to ICT.

IPTV

Digital television on campus. This signal is distributed on the computer network, instead of satellite connection or cable connection. In this way you can easily watch television on your computer. Besides that, it is possible to put the signal directly on your television screen by using a Settop box.

MFP

Multifunctional printer. These printers make it possible to print from every UT workplace and USB stick. You can print, scan and sends scans to your e-mail. When you are registered at the Follow me system, you can use these printers.

M-DRIVE

My documents. Every employee has 10 GB personal space. You can use this space for work documents; it is not possible to share these documents with others. When you work at several organisations or you change your workplace, this home directory stays the same.

MAC ADDRESS

Address of the network card. See DAS.

MY UNIVERSITY

Portal for students and employees. You can log in with your ICT account.

MY UTWENTE

NOTEBOOK

Laptop.

NSC

The Notebook Service Centre takes care of the sale of notebooks and distribution of software at their website. If you have problems with your notebook, the NSC can help you. You can borrow a notebook within an hour, when they can’t help you immediately.

P-DRIVE

Students

Personal drive. Every student has 4 GB personal space. When you work at a computer of the UT, you can save your documents at this drive. This drive is also accessible by FTP connection.

P-DRIVE

Employees

Project drive. This drive is meant for employees who wants to share project data with others. At this drive you only have access to files of organisations, associations, projects or groups where you are member of.

SFTP

FTP based on a secured environment.

SNT

Student Net Twente supports you with the set-up of your workplace at home (at the campus). They can answer your questions about installing WLAN and reporting a new computer or network interface card at the UTnet.

T-NUMBER

Temporary ICT account (valid for 7 days) for guests. See TRA.

TEAM VIEWER

Makes it possible to take over computers at distance.

U-SCHIJF

UT document drive. On this drive you will find several documents of the UT. These documents are common good for everyone on the UT. E.g. there are PowerPoint and word templates with the UT design.

UTNET

UTnet. Campus network at the UT that makes it possible for every campus residents to go on the Internet and connect to eachother.

VIDEO COLLEGE

It is possible to record a lecture with corresponding PowerPoint slides. The system of Mediasite makes it possible to divide the lecture in chapters automatically based on your PowerPoint slides. Afterwards, the lecture is accessible via a weblink.

VIDEO CONFERENTIE

It is possible to have a meeting or follow a lecture with picture and sound at distance. You can indicate your preferences at a form. The connection is via broad band internet.

VPN

Virtual Private Network. This connection makes it possible to use the network of the UT at distance. The computer is virtually linked in the network.
