UT Stimuleringsfonds (incentive fund)

Vrouwen aan de top

Are you a female staff member who has the ambition to move on to a higher position? If so, the UT is intent on supporting you in your ambition!

The University of Twente is aware that diversity – a proper balance between male and female staff – has a positive effect on the quality of our work. Also ageing and a tighter job market make it necessary to use all the talent available within the university.

One of the incentives is the UT incentive fund.

Do you have it in you to move on to the position of associate professor or Sr. researcher or higher or for OBP to move on to a higher position?

If so, you can submit an application together with a small project proposal in which you clearly indicate how the proposed activities will contribute to your career and which gap in your career is lacking in order to be promoted. The project proposal consists of no more than 1 or 2 pages with a list of activities and the corresponding budget. Below you find the link for the proposal format.

Just to give you an idea, a selection from the proposals that have been accepted so far:

·

Costs for courses for personal or professional development.

·

Facilities to work on a publication

·

Travel and accommodation expenses for meeting colleagues from abroad that are not covered by your regular project costs

·

Facilities to write an NWO proposal

Criteria for assessment of the project proposals:

1.

The applicant formulates her ambition to move on convincingly. She states which position she occupies at the moment and what gaps her CV shows that inhibit her promotion at the moment.

2.

The application should comprise a clear plan explaining how the application will contribute to her development to a higher position (What does she need to close the gap) and what steps need to be taken. It should be likely that the promotion is made at the UT within a reasonable time path.

3.

The budget is related to the steps to be taken and should be sufficiently detailed. The budget must also be used for the applicant directly.

Please include also an indication of other budgets the applicant has to support her career, like attending conferences.

4.

The maximum amount allocated is 20,000 euros.

5.

A letter of recommendation of the superior, including a time-path for possible promotion. In case the applicant has a temporary contract, there should be a guarantee of at least a year of working at the UT.

The following should also be noted:

1.

Applications involving a replacement construction (fte’s for research assistants or student assistants) can now be included.

2.

Any applications involving extra money for current projects (like equipment, research material) will not be honoured, for these activities do not contribute to the applicant’s development and should be provided by the department.

3.

Applications from PhD students will not be honoured; they still have a long way to go before reaching the top and the department in question is to provide for their personal development.

The ambassadors’ network will assess the applications and advise the Executive Board in this context. Send your proposal directed to Prof. S. Hulscher, chair of the ambassadors network, to Annemarie Ridder Tel.nr.3851.

Closing date will be: April, 19, 2013

Please inform your HRadvisor of your application.
