Domestic and international business trips
We refer to a domestic business trip if your faculty or service department requires you to perform your activities outside the place where you ordinarily perform your tasks and therefore need to travel within the Netherlands. Also a business trip that starts in the Netherlands and whereby only a small part of the travel takes place outside the Netherlands, or which does not involve any meals or overnight stay abroad, is considered a domestic business trip. If the travel predominantly takes place abroad, we refer to a foreign business trip.
If however during a period of at least four weeks you are to temporarily perform work elsewhere for at least half the number of working days during this period, this is not considered a business trip. In that case you are eligible for a compensation of travel costs and possibly a compensation of the costs of temporary accommodation outside the place of residence.
