V-number
The V-number stands for aliens number. This is a unique number which serves to identify each alien for the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service) and the partners in the chain (such as the Aliens Police). This number is assigned the moment someone starts an admission procedure. The number is stated in the correspondence which the alien or the referent receives from, for example, the IND, and on the residence permit itself.
