ECIU staff exchange

To: staff members of the UT

We would like to inform you about 'The ECIU Staff Exchange Programme'. ECIU is a network of European entrepreneurial universities that collectively organise activities in order to exchange knowledge and experience and promote mutual cooperation. In this context an exchange programme has been set up for staff members: 'The ECIU Staff Exchange Programme'.

What does the ECUI Staff Exchange Programme entail?

'The ECIU Staff Exchange Programme' gives you an opportunity to visit another university or to receive staff members from another university. Via the exchange programme you can share knowledge and experience with staff from other universities, in order to get new ideas. For example, how do they organise the communication from the faculties, how do they steer the education programme on substance, how do they shape their career development policy?

This possibility for exchange can also be used as educational leave which is already a common option at the UT.

You can visit one of the following universities, for example:

·

University of Aveiro, Portugal

·

Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg, Germany

·

Universitat de Barcelona, Spain

·

Universität Dortmund, Germany

·

The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland

·

Aalborg University, Denmark

Rules for the exchange programme:

·

Target group: non-academic staff

·

The length of the exchange can vary from several days to one year or more, depending on your personal wishes and the possibilities at the university you wish to visit.

·

During this exchange programme you will receive your salary as usual; your travelling costs are paid for by the University of Twente.

·

Accommodation and costs of accommodation are arranged in consultation with the host university.

·

A condition for participation in the exchange programme is that you have a good command of the English language (both oral and writing skills)

How can you apply for the exchange programme?

1. If you wish to take part in the exchange programme, you need first to consult with your superior on whether you are allowed to participate in the exchange programme, because costs are attached to participation in the programme. It is important that you make agreements with your superior on how long you can go, which university you visit, and with what purpose.

2. When your superior has given you permission to participate in the programme, you are to draw up a resume stating your present job and tasks. In addition, in a brief memorandum you state which university you wish to visit, how long, when, and what you would like to do at this university, and at which department. NB: you should write this memorandum either in English or in the language of the country you wish to visit.

3. Send the memorandum to the UT contact person and she will contact the coordinator from the ECIU.

It is important that knowledge and experience acquired during the exchange is not restricted to the staff member making the visit, but that this is as much as possible shared with other staff members for whom this may also be interesting. For this reason at the end of the exchange you are required to prepare a report describing your experience. This will be provided to the contact persons of both universities who will see to further distribution.
