Expertise
Lex van Velsen is a researcher at the department of psychology, health and technology. His research focuses on the design of new and social media for e-health. In his research he collaborates with Lisette van Gemert-Pijnen and the National Institute for Public Health and Environment.
The last years he has focused his research, among other things, on user-centered design, e-Service design, personalization on the web and the use of Web 2.0 applications. In these projects he worked with a range of governmental organizations (like the Dutch tax service), several municipalities, and IBM.
Lex was organizer and Program co-chair of the IEEE Professional Communication Conference 2010, which was held in Enschede, the Netherlands. He was also an organizer of the Workshop on User-centred design and evaluation of adaptive systems, which was held in 2009. Finally, he is also a reviewer for a range of scientific journals (including Interacting with computers and Technical communication) and conferences.
