Researchprojects
My PhD project is about the Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). Solution-Focused Therapy means a different way of approaching problems and communicating, with a focus on Positive Psychology. Where most traditional therapies are based on the cause-effect model, the Solution-Focused Therapy has a focus on the future and strong qualities of clients. The starting-point is that clients are able to set their own goals and own the resources to reach their goals. In this perspective, the role of the solution-focused health care professional changes from expert to coach.
In my PhD project, I will examine the effect of the Solution-Focused Therapy on the health care professional. Attention will be paid to the learning process of a Solution-focused work style, solution-focused teamwork, microanalysis of solution-focused communication and the effect on the professional identity and work engagement of the health care professional. This research will be accomplished at and in corporation with Aveleijn (www.aveleijn.nl), a health care organization for mentally disabled people.
The project is supervised by Dr. Mark van Vuuren en Dr. Ernst Bohlmeijer
Background
In 2008, I graduated as a communication scientist at the University of Twente. My master thesis was a qualitative analysis of the communication process of ‘innovation’ as a core value in organizations. This research aroused my interest for organisational culture, team spirit and work motivation. After a short break travelling and working in the industry, in January 2010, I started as a PhD Student at the University of Twente, at the Department of Psychology, Health & Technology.
