·	Psychology, in particular psychogerontology: the psychology of aging and the second half of life.

·	Reminiscence and life-review: recollecting personal memories and effects on well-being.

·	Positive mental health: mental health is more than the absence of psychopathology. It also includes emotional, psychological and social well-being.

Researchprojects

“Positive mental health and its relation to physical and mental illness: A one-year longitudinal internet study in the Dutch population.”

In my PhD-project I will examine positive mental health. Mental health is more than the absence of mental illness and can be formulated in a positive way as the presence of emotional, psychological and social well-being. Data will be collected by the MESS-panel (a NOW-funded internet panel for Measurement and Experimentation in the Social Sciences) run by CentERdata at the University of Tilburg. In this research the trajectories of mental health as well as mental illness and physical illness during one year will be examined in a representative sample of the Dutch population.

The PhD-project is supervised by Dr. Gerben Westerhof (first supervisor) and

Dr. Ernst Bohlmeijer (second supervisor).

Prof. Dr. Erwin Seydel will be promotor in this project.
