Research projects

Henk Boer is involved in research projects in the application of social cognitions models in HIV prevention behavior. Aim of these research projects is to investigate the applicability of social cognition models in cultures, which differ from the ones in which these models were originally developed. In this way, we investigate the influence of various contextual and cultural variables on safe sex related social cognitions and behavior. The current project focuses on the development, implementation and evaluation of the effects of radio HIV prevention messages for rural girls and women in the Amhara region in Ethiopia (PhD project of Gebeyehu W. Bogale, Educational Media Agency, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia). This project is funded by The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (Nuffic).
