RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research interests are in how people learn in complex learning settings and how this learning can be supported. My doctoral research explored how student teachers regulate their learning in a dual learning programme: they learn parallel at the university and in practice. This study resulted in better understanding of the nature and development of self-regulated learning in a context where learners need it most, in the absence of a structured learning environment. In my future research I will broaden the context of my studies from teachers to professionals in general. I am currently working on a research proposal on regulation of learning at the workplace.
TEACHING AND SUPERVISING
My teaching is in the domain of Human Resource Development. In 2010-2011 was coordinator and teacher of the Bachelor course HRD Theory 4 Practice and Master course HRD Research skills. Furthermore, I participate in the Bachelor course Atelier 3.
I act as a supervisor of bachelor theses, pre-master projects and master theses. Besides, I am supervisor of a PhD-project on Critically reflective work behaviour in learning communities of veterinary professionals (Utrecht University).
In March 2011 I received the Educational Science and Technology (Onderwijskunde) Teacher of the Year 2010-2011 award.
