RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research interests are in how people learn in complex learning settings and how this learning can be supported. My doctoral research explored how student teachers regulate their learning in a dual learning programme: they learn parallel at the university and in practice. This study resulted in better understanding of the nature and development of self-regulated learning in a context where learners need it most, in the absence of a structured learning environment. In my current research I broadened the context of my studies from teachers to professionals in general. Besides, I am a post-doc in a longitudinal study on drop-out across the school career.
TEACHING AND SUPERVISING
My teaching is in the domain of Human Resource Development. I am a teacher in the bachelor programme Onderwijskunde (OWK) in the course Atelier 3 and in the following courses in the Master Educational Science and Technology (EST):

I act as a supervisor of bachelor theses, pre-master projects and master theses. I have been a supervisor in the PhD-project on Critically reflective work behaviour in learning communities of veterinary professionals (Esther de Groot, Utrecht University).
In March 2011 I received the Educational Science and Technology (Onderwijskunde) Teacher of the Year 2010-2011 award.
