Motor Skills (192934170)
Lecturers: Dr. E. de Kleine and Drs. E.L. Abrahamse
The first part of the course (college 1-4) will aim at acquiring theoretical insight into some provocative and open questions that are derived from the literature on motor learning. Emphasis will be on the cognitive aspects of motor skill. To-be-covered subjects are:
- what is motor control, and how does it work?
- what is the role of perception in motor skills?
- how and where are motor skills represented in the brain?
In the second part of the course the studied literature will be linked to more practically-oriented subjects, such as sports and movement impairments. If possible, this will be complemented by an excursion and/or guest lecture(s). At the end of the course the student has acquired insight into the complex relations that exists between basic concepts from literature concerning motor skills, as well as in the link between these concepts and the practice.
