Applied Cognitive Psychology aims at students with an interest in applying basic knowledge on human cogition in practical situations.
In Class 1 an overview will be presented of the development of Applied Cognitive Psychology. Characteristics of applied research will be discussed including how to use basic knowledge in the investigation of practical questions. In this class, presentation for later classes will be chosen by the students.
Classes 2-6 will deal with various applied research areas that make use of, or are related to, basic knowledge of cognition. Subjects include Embodied Cognition, Car Driving, and the Acquisition of Perceptual-Motor Skills in simulators. In the 7th and last class students will be allowed to pick a subject of their own choosing.
In 'Class 8' there will be an excursion to TNO Human Factors in Soesterberg (mandatory).
