As a further extension of the cells-on-chips topic, two new projects have been started that investigate the realization of tissue on chip. The Blood Brain Barrier (BBB is mimicked on-chip to investigate toxicity of nanoparticles and transport of drugs. Besides, a new research line is started to investigate micro-nanofluidics for water desalination and electrochemical energy storage. Finally, in collaboration with two other Spinoza-winners, microdevices and systems for analysis of biomarkers for understanding of migraine are developed.
