BIOS HAS A NEW STATE OF THE ART MULTIFUNCTION MICROSCOPE
The BIOS/Lab-on-a-Chip Group has invested in a new multifunction microscope as part of the 3TU center of excellence program and in collaboration with the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology. The new microscope is a confocal Raman microscope with integrated atomic force microscope (AFM) and near-field scanning optical microcope (NSOM). BIOS researchers are developing miniaturized optical sensors based on surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) that are capable of measuring vibrational modes of molecules in aqueous solutions and can be used for molecular identification for medical diagnostic applications. Project details are described here: BIOS SERS. For more information contact Edwin Carlen: e.t.carlen@utwente.nl
