Architectural Design of Open Distributed Systems – From Interface to Telematics

Chris Vissers has contributed intensively to the development of open distributed systems, and in particular to telematics. He did this as Full Professor of the University of Twente, and as Director of the ‘Telematica Instituut’. He was one of the first few who foresaw the huge potential and the interesting scientific challenges of this new research area. Through his vision and passion he has been able to inspire people, initiate fruitful collaborations, and act as the untiring tutor of many students and researchers.

During the symposium “25 Years of Telematics” on February 8, 2006, a liber amicorum was presented to Chris Vissers. Various (previous and current) colleagues and PhD students contributed to this book. They did this with great enthusiasm, displaying their particular view on or relationship to the world and life of Chris Vissers.
