Middleware of distributed objects (265201)
TEL/INF/BIT/EL (elective) 3rd periodThe objectives of this course are twofold: (i) give the students some knowledge on middleware platforms for distributed objects, by making students acquainted with the concepts, models and technologies that are applied in these platforms for distributed systems and (ii) develop skills, by providing hands-on experience with the use of middleware platforms and their internal structure. After completing this course successfully, students will be capable of working in development or research projects that apply or develop middleware technology. Special emphasis is given in this course module to the middleware capabilities that can be used to support telematics services.
The course focuses on one of the major architectures for object middleware, the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) as standardized by the Object Management Group (OMG). Additional related topics such as integration with Web-technology, the use of component technology, and QoS and multimedia streaming support are also addressed in this course.
More information on this course will be made available on the Teletop site of the course.
