Every quarter the educational committee of Computer Science presents a “student bouquet” to a student that has shown outstanding motivation or dedication or positively contributed in surprising ways. Recently, Ronald Meijer and Marcel Boersma each received a bouquet. Ronald Meijer was nominated by Jaco van de Pol for his work in the education evaluation committee (OEC). Jaco’s courses were evaluated several times, with Ronald as the discussion leader. Jaco appreciated the quality of the evaluation, and the feedback he got, and he emphasised how important the systematic evaluation system is for lecturers to improve their courses.
Marcel Boersma was nominated by Djoerd Hiemstra for introducing “Challenges” as a new educational format. Marcel managed to convince three lecturers (Pieter-Tjerk de Boer, Bram Dil, and Djoerd himself) to supervise these challenges, and so far the results of the challenges have been very exciting. A fantastic initiative!
