Ramses Wessel appointed as Dean of Educational Innovation

27 March 2013

As of 1 April, and for the coming three years, the current acting Dean of the School of Management and Governance, Professor Ramses Wessel, will also hold the post of Dean of Educational Innovation.

The various educational developments at the UT, and the priority given to them by the Executive Board, are the reason why the choice has been made to devote considerable energy to this area.

With his mandate from the Rector Magnificus, Professor Wessel will work on a number of educational innovations, such as the development and implementation of the Twente Educational Model, the preparations for the Institutional Quality Assurance Audit, the monitoring of the performance agreements made earlier this year with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the 3TU collaboration in education. When the new educational organization comes into force, after endorsement by the University Council, Ramses Wessel will also become Chairman of the UCO 3.0.

The rector will of course remain ultimately responsible for the university education and the innovation thereof and will continue to be actively involved in this. He will be supported in this by the Dean of Educational Innovation.

As the Dean a.i. of the School of Management and Governance, but also in his capacity as Dean of Educational Innovation, Professor Wessel will participate in the meetings between the Executive Board and the Deans as well as in the Strategic Council. This temporary position is not considered a deanship in terms of the Dutch Higher Education Act.
