The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (ECS) has informed the executive boards of the Dutch universities that the study delay regulation has been abolished effective immediately. This decision was discussed and approved in the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) on Tuesday 9 October 2012. The day after we received a letter about how to address the reversal of this regulation. The University of Twente acted quickly after the message of the Ministry was received and immediately stopped collecting the additional tuition. For the students from the UT who already paid the tuition, the UT is doing the utmost to refund the paid surcharge as soon as possible. Students who did not re-enrol for the academic year 2012-2013 owing to the long term student regulation, may still do so. Students are eligible for re-enrolment if they were a long-term student on or before 1 September 2012 and if they wish to enrol in the same programme as last year. To this end the students have to submit a motivated request in writing before 15 November 2012. Together with the institute concerned there will be checked whether there is still a feasible programme for the student. More information can be found here. |
