Summary in English
The "jaarcirkel" (literal translation: year cycle) is the set of boundary conditions in which all scheduled educational activities of all Bachelor's and Master's programmes should be fitted. The "jaarcirkel" determines the beginning of the academic year, which weeks are determined for lectures, written examinations, academic holidays, etc.
Until and including the academic year 2008-2009, the University of Twente determined its own "jaarcirkel". From the academic year 2009-2010 onwards, there is a joint "jaarcirkel" for 3TU.
In the schematic "jaarcirkels" in PDF, the colour codes have the following meanings:
§ |
in yellow: periods for scheduled lectures, practical work, etc.; |
§ |
in red: periods for (written) examinations; |
§ |
in green: periods with no educational activities (academic holidays, public holidays, etc.); |
§ |
in purple: re-examination period at the end of summer holiday. |
The 4th quartile contains one more "yellow" week than the other quartiles to compensate for public holidays in this period.
