S-Tribometer
The S-Tribometer consists of a reciprocating pin sliding over a stationary plate. The pin moves in a sinusoidal motion with an amplitude of 23mm. Such a sinusoidal movement occurs for instance in combustion engines, in the contact between the piston and the cylinder lining. Parameters that can be varied in the experiments are the normal load, the frequency of the movement (i.e. sliding velocity) as well as the temperature of the samples. |
