Horizontal Two Disk Rig
The HODIM (Horizontal Disk Machine) is a newly developed two disk machine. The big advantage compared to other two disk machines is the construction where one of the motors with transmission and test disk is suspended in elastic hinges. In other two disk machines the bearings holding the test disks are usually fixed to the frame. In that case the measured friction signal includes the machines bearing friction. Because in this two disk rig the set-up is completely isolated from the main frame, the internal friction of the bearings and transmission is not included in the measurements and even rolling friction can be measured. |
