Dr.Kannika Sahakaro

Kannika Sahakaro, PhD

Assistant Professor

Kannika Sahakaro was born in Songkhla, Thailand on December 24th, 1972. She studied Rubber Technology at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand and received her BSc. degree in 1994. She then spent a full year working in the rubber industry. She came back to the university as an instructor at Rajabhat Institute Songkhla, then joined Prince of Songkla University in 1996. She finished her MSc. degree in Polymer Science and Technology at the University of Manchester, England in 1998. Subsequently, she obtained her PhD degree at the University of Leeds, England in 2002 with a PhD thesis entitled “Aspects of Science and Technology of Living Polymerization Processes” under a supervision of Prof. Anthony F. Johnson. After her PhD, she returned to Thailand to work as a lecturer in the same university.

In 2004, she spent a year working as a Post-doc in the group of Prof. J. W. M. Noordermeer at the University of Twente under the research project entitled “Investigations on blending, reinforcement and curing in NR/BR/EPDM compounds for tire sidewall applications”.

From 2008, she will work 3 months a year (September to November) in the Department of Elastomer Technology and Engineering (ETE) under a joint project between the University of Twente and Prince of Songkla University, sponsored by the Netherlands Natural Rubber Foundation. For the rest 9 months, she continues her work at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand.

Her key research area/interests are: elastomer blends; modification of natural rubber; rubber processing and products based on natural rubber; and thermoplastic elastomers.
